Kodály Children's Groups in celbridge
- The Interactive Music Show (IMS) is a 30 minutes long interactive, kinesthetic programme for children aged from 3 to 7. It is based on the famous Kodály-method, whose slogan is "Let music belong to everyone!" During the 30-minute lesson, children listen to music played by musicians/music teachers, watch puppet shows, and participate in dancing and singing. This is how they learn the basics of musical theory without any effort, experiencing only joy. Music improves creativity and stimulates the brain. Experiences have shown that children who listen to music and sing and play a lot, they perform much better in school.
- All aspects of a child’s musicality are explored from expressing themselves musically through movement, to encouraging listening of various types of genres of music from pop to classical to jazz and music from other countries. The rudiments of tonic solfa “do, re, mi…” is taught through singing and the use of hand signs. During the classes, time is always allocated to music making where children have a chance to compose music through the use of percussion instruments (or their own hands and feet) while exploring melody, pitch, rhythm, range, tempo, dynamics, structure, tonality, instrumentation, mood, timbre and texture.
- Music is a language that everyone can learn to speak.
"Music is an indispensable part of universal human knowledge."
